Ron Pollack: Getting to Know the Veteran Hedge Fund Manager

Today, all signs point to the recovery of the financial markets in the US and people like veteran investment and fund manager Ron Pollack are preparing to ride the big money wave that is expected to come. The recent economic downturn that wreaked havoc in the US and in other parts of the world has brought many companies to their knees, leaving the US stock market in shambles for the most part of 2008 and 2009. But today, the economy is bouncing back, bringing the financial markets along with it. There are countless of investment and fund managers out there, but Ron Pollack is among the rare ones who have been trained in financial markets ever since they were kids. He started learning about the markets when, during visits to Florida, he would accompany his grandfather Max to the local stockbroker. Max has was an enthusiast in long-term investment way back when there was no Internet or Bloomberg as means of real-time viewing of financial information on TV. Max would bring Ron to the stockbroker office in Shearson, where a group of other men would wait and watch the ticker-tape. During those Florida visits, Ron's interest in the financial world had been awakened.

Ron Pollack obtained an MBA and Juris Doctor Degrees from Harvard University after finishing as magna cum laude in his class and earning a bachelor's degree in Economics and Political Science from Yale. Then, he started as investment banker at Goldman Sachs. Then, he worked for Drexel Burnham Lambert and became a limited partner at Feshbach Brothers that was a pioneering firm focused on short selling.

After working for renowned investment and finance institutions, Ron Pollack founded Bulldog Capital Management. His firm is constituted of smaller groups of funds that deal with long and short, net short, and other types of funds. In 2002, Bulldog Capital Management was merged with the Monitor Group, which became a large global investing and consulting company. His grandfather Max who introduced him to stock markets.
